The Portland Group launches new =mobile app and express pickup options

The Portland Group, the family-owned, fourth-generation plumbing, heating and air-conditioning company, announced two new ways to ease the customer experience — the OETouch app and PG Express.

The Portland Group's OETouch app is perfect for trade professionals, the distributor explained. The Reorder Pad displays a customer’s past-year product sales to easily identify frequently purchased products. Plus, the app provides the ability to access account information such as open quotes, orders and invoices, as well as AR information. The app also provides instant access to product pricing, as well as branch and network availability.

“For the busy Portland Group customers this new app makes shopping simple, easy and efficient,” said Ben Rose, president of The Portland Group. “Our trade professionals, who are regularly on the move, need something easy and digital to keep track of all their clients. This app allows for them to keep everything organized and readily available, with easy access to product data and spec sheets.”

The PG Express is for those who need items from one of The Portland Group locations fast. Now available at five of The Portland Group locations, West Newton, Framingham, Raynham and Haverhill, Massachusetts, and Manchester, New Hampshire, this easy-to-use system allows customers to pick up their order 30 minutes after submitting it through email, the distributor explained.

“The PG Express eliminates the need to shop,” added Steve LaDuke, The Portland Group’s technical sales specialist. “Our trade professionals, who are on the job regularly and need to pick up something fast, can just email us and have it ready for pickup within the hour, making their day and jobs go much smoother.”

Sloan partners with The Water Council’s WAVE program

Sloan announced its partnership with The Water Council as the inaugural member of its recently-launched WAVE program.

A water stewardship initiative, the WAVE program provides companies like Sloan — a Water Council member since 2011 — with ways to improve their water stewardship efforts.

These efforts are then independently verified by SCS Global Services, an international leader in third-party sustainability verification. Verified companies can confidently state they are credibly and strategically addressing water challenges and opportunities where it matters most.

“Water is earth’s most precious resource, and it’s important to understand and prioritize our water risks and shared water challenges in order to become better stewards,” said Patrick Boyle, Sloan director of sustainability. “Sloan’s historic partnership with The Water Council’s WAVE program provides us with an exciting opportunity to lead by example by communicating our corporate water stewardship efforts.”

The six-step methodology for improving, reporting, and reorganizing effective corporate water stewardship includes:

  • Understanding water uses, impacts and risks;
  • Approving a corporate water stewardship policy;
  • Prioritizing sites where water-related risks can be mitigated; and
  • Communicating a corporate action plan, goals and timeline.

“Sloan is a market leader and global influencer when it comes to sustainability, and we’re proud to welcome them as the first official WAVE client,” said Dean Amhaus, The Water Council president and CEO. “We designed WAVE to benefit a variety of companies, whether you’re just starting on your water stewardship journey or already addressing water risks like Sloan.”
