Title: Plumbing & Mechanical Sales Manager

How long have you been in the PHCP-PVF industry?

Eight years.

What drew you into the industry?

One of my role models Mike Parham told me I would be a great fit as a salesman in the industry and planted the seed in my head. Once hired on, my boss Charlie Parham had a different vision and enrolled me into the Pepco S.M.O.T (Sales Management Opportunity Trainee) program. I started in the warehouse and worked in just about every department within the company before stepping into a sales role. The opportunity Charlie gave me helped build the love and enthusiasm I have today for this industry.

What is the most rewarding aspect of working in the industry?

Driving through downtown Austin and seeing all the high-rise buildings Pepco has been a part of and the work we have done to shape the skyline. Pepco’s motto is “Build It Better” and that is exactly what we are doing. The relationships created along the way is why I love what I do.

What motivates you every day?

My wife Katherine and six-month-old daughter Holly are my biggest motivation. I also see guys I work with like Heath Williams, Greg Salter, James Wickersham, Bruce Wood and Michael Hanna that have built a reputation for themselves as some of the best in the industry. I am motivated by wanting to be the best and they have helped pave the path for the younger generation. A quote I live off of is “Every conversation is a business conversation and you’re always being interviewed” – Charlie Hauck.

What is one thing you wish more people knew/understood about the PHCP-PVF industry?

That we are a part of one of the largest workforces in the world. We are a part of building the infrastructure for the American people. That everyone’s role in the industry is vital to the growth of our country. We look at these positions as just jobs, but we are doing a lot more than just selling pipes, valves, and fittings. We are building America!

What has been your proudest moment in your career so far?

My proudest moment hasn’t happened yet in my eyes. I can think of numerous jobs and projects I have won, but I look forward to a management role. This will be where I will lead an entire team at Pepco to win and succeed. That day will be my proudest moment.

What is one thing most people don’t know about you?

I used to be a professional dressage horseback rider. I performed stunts, sword fought, and jousted in an arena for hundreds of thousands of people as a Knight at Medieval Times. I got the nickname from some of my customers as “The Red Knight”.

“Thomas is someone who always has your best interests at heart. Through hard work, study, and expert relationship building, he is building a reputation of respect and expert performance. In addition to the volumes of product sold for the manufacturers he represents, Thomas also gives back to the industry. For AIM/R (Association of Independent Manufacturers' Representatives) he has led a RAM (Reps And Manufacturers) roundtable group and led a presentation at the AIM/R Annual Conference. For ASA (American Supply Association) he currently sits on the Emerging Leaders board of directors. In addition, every Austin skyscraper built in the past 5 years and every one currently under construction has been impacted by Thomas' work.”
