Next Gen All Star:
Brian Botts
Age: 36
Company: NorPac, Inc.
Title: President
How long have you been in the PHCP-PVF industry?
I’ve been in the PHCP-PVF industry for 12 years, all with NorPac. I’ve been fortunate to experience every role within the company - starting in the warehouse, moving to inside sales, and eventually, transitioning into outside sales. That progression gave me a well-rounded understanding of both our operations and the needs of our partners in the field.
What drew you into the industry?
I was given the opportunity to join NorPac by my father-in-law, Tom Hagensen, who was the founder and principal of the company. Having a front-row seat to witness both the rewards, challenges, and direct impact that a manufacturer's rep can have within the market, my interest was sparked, and it enabled me to understand the unique experience and responsibility that comes with the industry.
What is the most rewarding aspect of working in the industry?
The most rewarding aspect of this industry is the relationships we build. Over time, customers, manufacturers, and other partners often become more than just business connections—they become close friends. There’s something unique about working in an industry where trust, collaboration, and mutual success create bonds that last far beyond a single project or deal.
What motivates you every day?
That’s easy—my family and my team. At NorPac, we have implemented a simple rule: aim to be 1% better every day. That mindset helps push me to continuously improve, both personally and professionally, every single day. I’m motivated to show up better —for my team, who count on me, and for my wife and daughter, who are my "why" that give me purpose to everything I do.
What is one thing you wish more people knew/understood about the PHCP-PVF industry?
I think it’s important that more people understand just how far-reaching and vital our industry is to so many aspects of life – far beyond fixing leaks or installing pipes. Our industry plays a crucial role in public health, safety, technological innovation, and even global economic development, especially in under-resourced regions. Clean water and sanitation are basic human rights, and the PHCP-PVF industry is the mechanism that turns that right into a reality.
What has been your proudest moment in your career so far?
My proudest moment was taking over NorPac in 2023. After spending ten years with the company in various roles—from warehouse to Vice President—I had the opportunity to purchase the business and step into the role of principal which was a full-circle moment for me. Not only did it represent a personal milestone, but it also made me one of the youngest principals in our industry. What makes this moment so meaningful is the trust placed in me to lead NorPac into its next chapter—modernizing our offerings, expanding our market presence, and building a business that reflects the future of our industry.
What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I’m a bit of a music nerd. I’ve always been passionate about music—not just listening but playing and collecting guitar gear as well. It’s been a big part of my life for a long time, and I even earned a scholarship to play music at university.
