Brett Miller
Age: 39
Company: Plusco Supply
Title: CEO
How long have you been in the PHCP-PVF industry?
Eight years.
What drew you into the industry?
I recognized it was an evolving industry, and wholesale distribution was being revolutionized by the digital era. Having experience in big-box retail, I knew there was an opportunity to bring new ideas and energy into this space.
What is the most rewarding aspect of working in the industry?
The customers. We supply some of the hardest-working men and women in the world. They are the engines that keep the water flowing to our homes, businesses, and communities. It’s a privilege to provide them with the products and resources they need to complete their work.
What motivates you every day?
Several things. First, my family, who inspired me to take the leap into entrepreneurship, and that desire to continue to persevere no matter what is thrown at me. Second, my employees. Without them, the business doesn’t exist. I wasn’t originally an “industry guy,” and there was a massive learning curve. They always had my back as I grew and learned. It’s been a blessing to be able to support them and give them the tools and resources they need to be successful and give them an environment to thrive.
What is one thing you wish more people knew/understood about the PHCP-PVF industry?
That it’s the backbone of everyday life. People rarely notice plumbing, heating, cooling, or water systems when they’re working but without them, nothing else functions. It’s a sophisticated industry that blends engineering, logistics, and service. It’s a very complex world.
What has been your proudest moment in your career so far?
It’s been fun watching Plusco grow from a small South Florida supplier into a national brand. With the emergence of technology, small companies are no longer isolated to their specific geography.
What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I have an abundance mindset. I believe opportunities, success, and resources are not limited and that there’s plenty for everyone so collaboration and generosity are better than competition and scarcity. I don’t see competition; I see collaboration opportunities within an abundant industry.
