How long have you been in the PHCP-PVF industry?

I've been in the PHCP-PVF industry directly for 13 years, after supporting as a vendor/supplier for several years before that. It’s been an incredibly dynamic and evolving career path that continues to provide opportunities for me as well as to challenge and inspire me. I’ve held many different roles at A. O. Smith; each step has been a challenge but yet very rewarding!

What drew you into the industry?

Initially, it was the opportunity to work in a field that blended technical expertise with real-world impact. The essential nature of the work — knowing that hot water is key when it comes to everything from food safety to surgical prep really appealed to me. Once I got in, I realized how broad and vital this industry really was and how great the people are. Every day is different; every hour is different. I wouldn’t change a thing if I looked back 13 years. I definitely made the right decision. I love the industry and especially love working at A. O. Smith. I’m not just an employee; we are family with the same passions.

What is the most rewarding aspect of working in the industry?

Knowing that the work we do directly affects people’s daily lives — clean and hot water is incredibly fulfilling. I also enjoy the strong relationships that are built across the supply chain, from wholesalers to contractors to end-users.

What motivates you every day?

The constant innovation and problem-solving in this industry keep me going. Every day brings a new challenge, and I’m driven by the chance to improve processes, support others, create new relationships, and be part of something special with a great company that is constantly innovating.

What is one thing you wish more people knew/understood about the PHCP-PVF industry?

Many people don’t realize how technologically advanced and essential this industry is. It's not just about pipes, valves, water heaters, or HVAC — it's about sustainability, smart infrastructure, public health, and innovation. There are a lot of opportunities for growth that impact our daily lives.

What has been your proudest moment in your career so far?

Some of my proudest moments include helping younger leaders pursue their passions and bring out their fullest potential. Others include being recognized as a future leader, receiving a variety of recognitions and awards, including the President’s Award, Chairman’s Award, and Values Recognition awards during my 13-year tenure at A. O. Smith.

What is one thing most people don’t know about you?

Most people don’t know that I coach travel baseball for my 11-year-old son, am a huge dance dad for my 9-year-old daughter, married to a former Minnesota Vikings cheerleader (Go Vikes, SKOL!), and make homegrown pickles from my garden, which all my neighbors and friends rave about (secret recipe).
